Overview

Getting introduced to current major themes in innovation and entrepreneurship, including human-centred design and innovation eco-systems. This practical course will guide and accompany participants to create new valued products, services or experiences, from idea generation trough to business concept development and testing and pitching the developed business concept.

Learning Goals & Syllabus

Learning Goals:

By the end of the course, students will have:

  • A good understanding of the human-centred design and innovation process to develop new products, services or experiences.
  • The ability to systematically explore, create and modify business-driven ideas.
  • The ability to validate assumptions and test prototypes.
  • An understanding of the innovation and business creation eco-system.
  • The ability to transform new ideas into valuable solutions considering their impact.
  • Leadership,team building, and managerial creativity competencies to work in and lead interdisciplinary teams.
  • The ability to present a concept in a pitch format

Main course components

  • Lectures in form of short input sessions.
  • Hands-on experimentation, feedback & feedforward.
  • Team projects and presentations.
  • Individual and group coaching.
  • Engagement with local innovation & entrepreneurship eco-system players, experts, and startups.
  • Pitch preparation and training.
  • Visits to key innovation spots in Berlin - could be technology centers, startups, hubs/co-working spaces

You may find the syllabus useful when discussing with your home university whether the ECTS credits attainable for this course are accepted by them.

Please note this is a full-time, intensive course and participants will be expected to attend lectures (18 hours of class per week) and complete independent study Monday through Friday. Additional study may also be required on weekends. The activities of the cultural program are also shown in the syllabus.

Target Audience

Anyone interested in innovation and/or entrpreneurship and Berlin’s startup and innovation eco-system or considering a related career or develop her/his own startup.

Prerequisites

Participants of the TU Berlin Summer University must meet the following requirements: (i) B2 level English, or equivalent and (ii) at least one year of university experience.

Lecturer(s)

Klaus Kammermeier creates and conducts workshops, learnshops, and online courses. He is a trainer, mentor, and speaker on innovation, preneurship and digital transformation. Klaus is the founder and managing director of Cyoneer GmbH, an innovation consultancy supporting national and international corporations in their endeavour to innovate with impact. For more than 15 years, he led - in technical and commercial leadership positions. - multi-functional global high-performance teams in the US, Europe, and Asia, to provide groundbreaking innovations. Klaus studied Engineering, Economics, and Management at Munich University of Applied Sciences, completed ‚Global Leadership 2020‘ at Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, and executive education at Columbia University Business School, New York City, USA. During the last few years, he coached and mentored over 150 founders, startups and innovation leaders, supported startup related research programs with Fraunhofer Institute, Helmhotz Association, and GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit). Klaus teaches master students at TU Berlin (Space Engineering), Grenoble Ecole de Management (Innovation Strategy and Entrepreneurship), Glion Institute for Higher Education and other international business chools. (Hospitality, Entrepreneurship and Innovation).

Course fees

Course fees for Innovation & Entrepreneurship are as follows:

  • Student: 950 Euro
  • Working professional/Non-student: 1140 Euro
