A stable economy, good salaries and a wide range of interesting jobs attract international specialists to work in Germany. However, the application process is governed by the typical German correctness and formality. This Career Planning Session aims to provide an overview of application rules and requirements you will need to understand when applying, particularly in the German industry.

This Career Planning Session is an introduction to the most relevant application topics. It includes:

  • how to search for jobs efficiently,
  • how to understand job ads and requirements,
  • how to write perfect application documents,
  • how to master job interviews competently

In this Career Planning Session, you will learn how to target your search for future employment and where to look for job vacancies. You will get to know various options of job databases and activities to come into contact with employers. Furthermore, you will learn to analyse job ads and the meaning of typical phrases in job advertisements. Additionally, you will learn how to write your CV and how best to adapt your application to the job offer. You will see examples of a professional application design and photos. Finally, we will discuss your preparation for job interviews, including your introduction and the interview structure.

Heidi Störr has been offering advice to German and international academic graduates since 2012. Before starting her career consultancy she worked as an HR Specialist for several companies and graduated in Economics with a specialization in HR. With her seminars, self-learning courses and coachings she provides an introduction to the most central aspects of starting a career in Germany after graduation such as: job search, application documents, job interviews and working conditions.
