ISI4Egypt Summer School in Sustainable Innovation & Industry 4.0

Overview

The Sustainable Innovation and Industry 4.0 Summer School is a bi-annual intensive training school, organized by Ain Shams University iHub and the TU Berlin Chair of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management. The school aims to increase the entrepreneurial mindset of students while providing them with new entrepreneurial and team competences, sustainability lenses and tools, international insights, and industry perspectives.

Students engage with intercultural teams to understand the intersection of entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability in international and technological contexts. Interdisciplinary German students are teamed with Egyptian student-entrepreneurs to bring new perspectives and practice problem solving, product-market analysis, and aiming innovations towards sustainability within diverse economic and political landscapes. A blend of lectures, teamwork sprints, social activities, and industry perspectives will provide a full and varied program. Networking and intercultural exchange is a key motivation for students. After successfully completing and evaluating the course, participants receive a certificate worth 6 ECTS.

 

Learning outcomes

After the course, students will be able to: 

  • Understanding the basic landscape of entrepreneurship, the role of innovation, and the intersection with sustainability in global contexts.
  • Ability to understand and apply concept experimentation and iterative startup development approaches
  • Ability to analyze problem-perspectives and propose valuable business solutions
  • Understand the basic concepts of intellectual property rights
  • Ability to explore and understand customers and markets
  • Intercultural + Interdisciplinary experience!
  • Industry 4.0 and technology perspectives, in the age of sustainability

Time and place

This one-week intensive training will take place at and around TU Berlin between September 8 - 18th 2023. The course hours are every day from 10 am to 4 pm*, but students should block the evenings for finishing teamwork or engaging in the social activities. Some excursions may also last longer than 4pm.

 

Forms of assessment

Portfolio: Oral presentation 50%, team essay 25%, self-reflection 25%

 

General requirements

Enrolled at TUB or in “BUA” as a Bachelor student (with at least 4 semesters completed) or Master Student and a CEFR B2 English proficiency.

Once the application deadline has passed, there will be a selection process and you will be notified by August 1st.

TU Berlin / BUA students: Free

Refreshments and a lunch are provided during the program.

 

Maximum number of students

The maximum number of students is 20. Ain Shams University will nominate and send an additional 10 students.
