Scientific Continuing Education and Cooperation(ZEWK)

Quality Assurance in Scientific Continuing Education

Our interdisciplinary offer includes courses in German and English, advising and coaching, as well as offers on building networks.

One of the goals of scientific continuing education is to offer academic staff and junior scholars at TU Berlin as well as the other institutions within the Berlin University Alliance a practical, needs-based program with a sound academic focus.

The basis for this is a standardized quality assurance management.

The introductory course in TU Berlin’s certification program “Teaching for University’s Best” and the curriculum for improving the quality of teaching at TU Berlin both received accreditation from the accreditation committee of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Hochschuldidaktik e.V. (dghd) in 2006, 2012, and 2018.

The accreditation procedure was conducted on the basis of the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ESG), in accordance with the requirements of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA).

Scientific Continuing Education’s evaluation process

As part of the quality assurance process for continuing education courses offered by Scientific Continuing Education and Cooperation (ZEWK), participants are asked to provide feedback through three surveys conducted at different times.
This 3-stage procedure is conducted online using the EvaSys software, in keeping with the procedures for conducting course evaluations at Technische Universität Berlin. Based on the results, both the continuing education program and the certification programs are regularly adapted and developed. Suggestions for additional topics are taken into consideration when doing so.

You can find further information about the three surveys below.

Expectation survey

The survey is sent to participants two weeks before courses begin.
The results are sent to instructors one week before courses begin to help them prepare and adapt courses to specific requirements.

Course survey

The course survey is made available online to participants at the end of each continuing education course at ZEWK.
The results of the course evaluation are communicated to instructors as soon as possible during a personal debriefing with their supervisor.

Transfer survey

The transfer survey is sent to participants by ZEWK three months after a course ends.
The survey serves to review how effectively course content has been transfered into practice as well as further develop ZEWK's offers.
