Qualified, Motivated, Equipped to Lead – Staff Development Instruments

Continual enhancement of qualifications, skills and personal qualities; developing the necessary qualities and skills to lead a project, team or department; developing management styles and enabling management to raise the level of motivation and satisfaction among their staff while helping ensure they stay healthy – these are the most important strategic staff development goals at Technische Universität Berlin. Strategic staff development consists of three core elements:

  • Continuing education
  • Advice and support
  • Staff development instruments

Continuing education includes programs for specialists and management to help respond in terms of skills and qualifications to the rapidly changing demands of the labor market.

A program of thorough and ongoing advice and guidance is provided to help staff deal with processes of change, particularly in the areas of organization and management culture.

Staff development instruments include staff-management meetings, coaching and team building, and programs for managerial staff. These instruments play a central role in staff development and are supported by a wide range of continuing education programs:

  • General Management Program
  • The START program for the new generation of management in science (postdocs and junior professors) and administration
  • Seminar programs for university professors
  • A program for newly appointed professors
  • Coaching and Team Building
