Staff Mobility - Going abroad for professional development

Excursions are study trips or courses for the education of students. The excursion is generally only intended for students. Excursions should only be carried out if the independent acquisition of practical experience, the on-site examination of original objects and the transfer of relevant knowledge, skills and scientific methods are not or not sufficiently possible in the spatial area of the TU Berlin. Trips to university or general political events are not excursions. This also applies to trips with a primarily touristic character.

The Faculty Service Center (FSC) is responsible for approving and invoicing excursions. The following information must be submitted informally by email to info(at)wm.tu-berlin.de

  1. Module in question (preferably with a link to the MTS module description)
  2. details of the excursion (destination, topic, duration, etc.)
  3. number of participants (list with names if applicable)
  4. estimated costs (e.g. travel costs, entrance fees, etc.)

The Federal Travel Expenses Act applies to excursion leaders and supervisors when settling costs. The Travel Expense Office is responsible for refunding costs incurred as a result of an approved excursion. Contact persons and the legal basis can be found here.

TU Berlin offers its employees a guest stay for professional development at one of our partner universities.

Applications have been possible since 2018. Depending on the budget situation, the selection is made up to twice a year. The coordination of the initiative within the Office of International Affairs is carried out by the International Academic Cooperation Division. Financing is secured from TU Berlin funds and strengthened by funding from Erasmus+ in the areas of student mobility and international projects.
