On 19.5.2023 he was appointed honorary professor for sustainability and innovation at the Faculty of Economics and Management. He has been responsible for the Sustainable Innovation course at the faculty since 2014.
Rainer Quitzow leads the research group Geopolitics of Transitions in Energy and Industry and is speaker of the research area Energy Transition and Societal Change at the Research Institute for Sustainability - Helmholtz Center Potsdam (RIFS Potsdam). At the RIFS Potsdam he examines the role of politics and policy in the context of international innovation and transformation processes in emerging climate-friendly industries. A particular focus is on the interplay of green industrial policy and international cooperation in the context of increasing geopolitical rivalries. In his transdisciplinary research processes, he works closely with partners from policy and practice.
Prof. Dr. Rainer Quitzow completed his doctoral degree in 2015 on the role of policy in the development of an international photovoltaic industry at the Freie Universität Berlin. Before starting his academic career, he worked at the World Bank in Washington, DC.
