Meet-the-Data @Bildungsforschung

In the KonsortSWD Meet-the-Data series, research data center staff and researchers present selected data sets and answer questions about data access and use.

The event series will start in October 2023 in cooperation with VerbundFDB with data from the field of educational research. It will be moderated by Lisa Kühn (RatSWD).

The series will feature existing data from the KonsortSWD (Consortium for the Social, Behavioral, Educational, and Economic Sciences) research data centers. These high-quality data and the extensive documentation that accompanies them are available for use in the research community and for the preparation of qualifying papers. Data are available on various age groups, target groups, or topics, quantitative or qualitative in nature, and various designs (including longitudinal, representative, interviews).

These data hold extensive research potential and are suitable for bachelor's and master's theses as well as for answering in-depth research questions. Using data from the research data centers has many advantages, such as:

  • it saves time and costs, as there is no need to collect data yourself,
  • the data are of high quality, since they are mainly collected by proven experts and institutes,
  • it allows to work with usually large samples and to consider a high number of covariates,
  • extensive documentation and statistical scripts are available,
  • working with the data opens access to many scientific communities.
