Digitized Resources at Other Institutions

Libraries and other institutions around the world are increasing their efforts to digitize their rare books, making a number of works freely accessible online. Before we digitize an item, we check to ensure it has not already been digitized elsewhere. If the item has indeed already been digitized and it meets our quality standards (authentic representation of the original, readability, permanent address), it will be linked in the Primo Knowledge Portal.

Searching for digitized resources at other institutions

You can also search for digitized resources at other institutions yourself:

The Karlsruhe Virtual Catalog offers an easy-to-use search for digitized works. Select “Digital media only” to simultaneously search relevant directories such as the Internet Archive (an international archive for freely accessible digitized media), the Zentrales Verzeichnis Digitalisierter Drucke (national) or the Deutsche Digitale BibliothekEuropeana offers image, text, audio, and video files from all of Europe.

You can also enter “Digitalisat*” as a search term in the Datenbank-Infosystem (DBIS) to receive a list of portals, most of which are free.

There are a number of specialist portals for literature about horticulture. If you are looking for a digitized resource, please speak with the staff at our information desks. We are happy to help.
