The University Library supports Open Access in a number of areas: Direct financial support is provided for various projects and initiatives that promote Open Access. Publication fees for individual Open Access publications can be financed via the central Publication Fund. TU Berlin has arranged special Open Access terms with certain publishers, to facilitate Open Access publishing. Some of these imply discounts.
The following projects and initiatives are supported by the University Library:
Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)
Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB)
Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics (SCOAP3)
DSpace Konsortium Deutschland
Open Library of Humanities (OLH)
Open Book Publishers (OBP)
In addition, the University Library participates in various crowdfunding projects to finance open access publications. Open Access for books in particular is often realized through the collaborative funding of many libraries.
