Collection of Digitized Student Flyers 1965–1972

Bestand 717, University Archives' collection of flyers, is an important supplement to the official records of Technische Universität Berlin. The collection spans four shelf meters of material, mainly covering the period from the mid-1960s through the 2010s.

The holdings are chronologically arranged and are partially indexed (1965–1972).

A significant portion of the collection includes flyers, pamphlets and camouflaged publications (Tarnschriften) from the period of the West German student movement of the 1960s and 1970s, which uniquely document the core years of the 1968 protest movement in Berlin from the perspective of the students and groups involved. The flyers and pamphlets contain calls for demonstrations, protests, and discussion events as well as contributions to debates and statements on the political controversies of the time. The documents were primarily published by student groups at Technische Universität Berlin but also Freie Universität Berlin, as well as cross-university associations and individuals active in the student movement.

A grant from Berlin's digitization office (Servicestelle Digitalisierung des Landes Berlin - digiS) in 2017 allowed University Archives and the University Library to index and digitize roughly 1,800 flyers from the period between 1965 and 1972.

The flyers from 1965–1968 can be viewed online. Those from 1969–1972 will follow shortly.
