Organisation and Innovation Management

Part Innovation Management

summer & winter term

This module provides students with initial insights into the opportunities and challenges of innovations. The sub-module integrates an e-learning approach with game-based learning. Here, students in teams tackle a specific product development task in a simulated corporate environment. This culminates in a 3-day block event (Innovate! Festival), where attendance is mandatory.

The structure of the sub-module is as follows:

1. Interactive Preparation Online-Module: This module prepares students for the upcoming festival days with an interactive introduction to the topic.

2. Practical Focus – Innovate! Festival: The main focus of this phase is the real product development of a Painting Robot. Within simulated organizational structures, students participate in a competition. In this context, they face a variety of challenges - from implementing innovations, identifying customer needs, overcoming IPR challenges, to addressing sustainability issues. The festival offers an intensive platform for hands-on engagement with innovation management, supplemented by theoretical reflections and practice-oriented lectures.

3. Online Post-Module: After the conclusion of the festival, an asynchronous online module enables students to reflect on and delve deeper into their experiences. This is reinforced by online lectures, short videos, and selected sections from the textbook, all made available on ISIS to guide the learning process.
