Whether student initiatives, representatives, clubs, projects, or university-political committees and groups - TU Berlin offers its students a number of ways to participate and contribute.
Students are often easily able to pursue personal commitment and involvement in addition to their studies. And it’s worth it as active participation means actively contributing to and managing university life. It is also a good opportunity to meet others and may even help open up career prospects.
A number of committees and bodies contribute to and direct TU Berlin’s internal self-management. These include the Academic Senate, Extended Academic Senate, committees of the Academic Senate, and Board of Trustees.
Representative committees are volunteer student committees dedicated to student interests and concerns. These so-called “INIs” (for student initiatives) are politically active within the University, operate student cafés, and often host orientation events for new students in their respective faculties and disciplines.
In this program, TU Berlin students volunteer as buddies for international exchange students. The program aims to help international students with their arrival and settling in as well as to promote intercultural and language exchange.
The Student Parliament (StuPa) is one of the student body’s governance organizations representing and acting on behalf of the student body in all student affairs. The StuPa is elected by all enrolled students at TU Berlin.
In project workshops and other “tu Projects”, students from any degree program autonomously hold courses on topics dealing with social and ecological sustainability while earning credit points for electives in the process.
The TU Berlin Intercultural Club (TUBIC) was established to promote communication and exchange between international and domestic students at TU Berlin and between all students and the University administration. Members of the University are invited to drop in and participate.
