Past Selection Cut-Off Criteria

Past selection cut-off criteria (Auswahlgrenzen) provide information on the average Abitur grade (for bachelor’s applications) or the points score in the selection process (master’s applications) as well as the waiting period required to gain a place in restricted admission programs in previous semesters.

This allows you to estimate your chances of being selected when applying. This information cannot, however, determine your acceptance or rejection, as grades, points, and waiting times for the upcoming semester cannot be predicted.

Bachelor’s programs

  • The allocation of study placements for bachelor’s degree programs is based equally on the average Abitur grade and waiting periods.

The cut-off criteria or numerus clausus (NC) apply to all bachelor’s applicants with a German university entrance qualification certificate as well as citizens of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway with a university entry qualification certificate.
  • Information on the selection procedures and the selection cut-off criteria for nationals of other foreign countries and stateless persons with foreign educational certificates (preliminary quota "International") can be found on the following website: Applicant group C -> "Selection process and notification".
