For the summer semester 2021 applies:
Application periods and deadlines can be found on the following page.
You can submit your application to uni-assist until the last day of the application deadline.
However, please note that it can take up to a few weeks for uni-assist to process your documents, meaning that you may receive the results only after the application deadline has expired. uni-assist is not obliged to inform applicants of incomplete or insufficient application documents prior to the expiration of the application deadline. Ensure that you apply in good time!
It is not possible to extend the application deadline or submit documents after the end of the application deadline. Incomplete applications or applications that have not been submitted in due form by the end of the application period cannot be considered and will be rejected.
Regardless of your nationality, as an applicant with an international university entrance qualification you must apply via uni-assist.
uni-assist checks your application documents to ensure they are in accordance with TU Berlin’s formal requirements, paying particular attention to the following:
Following the pre-check, uni-assist will electronically forward your application to TU Berlin. Your application documents remain with uni-assist. TU Berlin conducts a final check of all your application documents, particularly special applications or applications submitted using TU Berlin’s own forms, before making a final decision concerning your entry to the admissions procedure. Please note that TU Berlin’s assessment of your application documents may result in a different decision than that indicated by uni-assist!
Uni-assist charges handling fees for the pre-check which must be paid before your application can be processed. If you have any questions or problems regarding the handling fees, please contact uni-assist directly.
Prospective students with an international university entrance qualification must always apply to TU Berlin - including for the MINTgrün pre-study orientation program. You cannot enroll without prior application and admission!
The MINTgrün program only begins each winter semester.
If you are interested in the MINTgrün pre-study orientation program, please apply via uni-assist with all the documents required for a standard application and choose the undergraduate program "Physik/ Bachelor/1. Fachsemester” in the online application.
Once you have been admitted, you can then enter "MINTgrün/Physik/Bachelor/1. Fachsemester” on the enrollment form.
Application for the core subject:
Only apply for admission to the core subject. Should you be admitted, you will be requested to submit an application for allocation to a secondary subject along with your enrollment documents and to provide three choices of secondary subject ranked in order of preference. Please be aware that only a limited number of places are available for secondary subjects and we may not always be able to allocate you to a subject of your choice. For possible subject combinations, please see the list of combination options for secondary subjects.
The process of allocating secondary subjects to admission-restricted and open admission programs commences mid-September for a winter semester! More information will be provided in your letter confirming admission.
Note on changing the secondary subject:
It is only possible to change your secondary subject in the winter semester! If you would like to change your secondary subject, please submit a request to change secondary subject to TU Berlin within the application period from June 1 until July 15. Please note: Submission is only possible in the way, described on the form.
Clearing procedures (1st degree semester)
In the event that study places for the first degree semester in degree programs with restricted admission (with NC) have not been allocated after the completion of the admission procedure, these study places will be allocated using a clearing procedure.
Participation is only online via hochschulstart.de (without documents or proof). To participate in the clearing procedure, you must register with hochschulstart.de, irrespective of your nationality. If you are already registered with hochschulstart.de, you can use your existing account. Otherwise you must create an account with hochschulstart.de
You may only participate in the clearing procedure if you did not receive admission from hochschulstart.de through the regular admissions procedure.
If you are admitted, you will receive a notification from TU Berlin via hochschulstart.de. Please note that you must fulfill the legal requirements for taking up specialized studies at the point of admission. This means that you must have a university entrance qualification certificate matching the program applied for and be able to provide proof of the required German skills.
You can find information about the process and deadline on hochschulstart.de.
Lottery system (higher degree semester)
In the event that study places for a higher degree semester in degree programs with restricted admission (with NC) have not been allocated after the completion of the admission procedure, these study places will be allocated by means of a lottery system.
To participate in a possible lottery, you must fill out TU Berlin’s application form to participate in the lottery. Submit the application form by 1 October for the following winter semester or 1 April for the following summer semester directly to TU Berlin Team Bachelor International by e-mail. You do not need to include any further documents or proof.
If you are admitted, you will receive a notification from TU Berlin with an access to your TUB account (tuPORT) to upload all documents for enrolment.
To enroll you require the „Application for recognition of previously obtained credits (Part A)" from the relevant TU Berlin examination board with placement in a higher degree semester. The degree semester placement must match the degree semester you applied for. If these do not match, you cannot enroll. Should you have conclusively failed an examination in the degree program you have been studying thus far at a university in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway, the examination board must additionally be satisfied that the failed examination does not represent an obstacle to you being accepted to the degree program for which you are applying.
Please note that you must also already fulfill the legal requirements for taking up specialized studies at the time of admission. This means that you must have a university entrance qualification certificate matching the program applied for and be able to provide proof of the required German skills.
Each new application must be checked to see whether you have a university entrance qualification for the chosen degree program - regardless if you have already applied to TU Berlin in a previous semester or are already enrolled at TU Berlin.
For a new application semester you must therefore re-apply and submit all necessary application documents to uni-assist and pay the handling fees.
If your last application was less than one year ago and uni-assist still has the documents required for an application to TU Berlin and the assessment of the university entrance qualification and your proof of language skills at the required level in paper form, these documents do not have to be submitted again. Exception: If you submitted preliminary proof with your application, you must replace the preliminary proof with the final certificate in your new application. Additionally, some universities take the paper application documents from uni-assist. In this case, uni-assist no longer has them in its possession within the one-year deadline.
If you have not acquired a university entrance qualification certificate from school (e.g. an Abitur) but are able to provide proof of certain professional qualifications, you can apply for a study placement under certain conditions pursuant to Section 11 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz - BerlHG).
