Clearing procedures and lottery system

In the event that study places in degree programs with restricted admission (with Numerus Clausus) have not been allocated after the completion of the admission procedure, these study places will be allocated using a clearing procedure or by means of a lottery system.

1st degree semester: Clearing procedures via hochschulstart.de

In the event that study places for the first degree semester in degree programs with restricted admission (with Numerus Clausus)
have not been allocated after the completion of the admission procedure, these study places will be allocated using a clearing procedure.

Participation is only ONLINE via hochschulstart.de (without documents or proof). To participate in the clearing procedure, you must register with hochschulstart.de, irrespective of your nationality. If you are already registered with hochschulstart.de, you can use your existing account. Otherwise you must create an account with hochschulstart.de

You may only participate in the clearing procedure if you did not receive admission from hochschulstart.de through the regular admissions procedure.

If you are admitted, you will receive a notification from TU Berlin via hochschulstart.de. Please note that you must fulfill the legal requirements for taking up specialized studies at the point of admission. This means that you must have a university entrance qualification certificate matching the program applied for and be able to provide proof of the required German skills.

You can find information about the process and deadline on hochschulstart.de.

1st degree semester: TU lottery system

If there are still free study places available AFTER the clearing procedure via hochschulstart.de, a lottery system procedure for the 1st degree semester will take place directly at the TU Berlin. Only if the TU Berlin offers such a lottery system procedure for the 1st degree semester, you will find the relevant information here ...

Higher degree semester: TU lottery system

In the event that study places for a higher degree semester in degree programs with restricted admission (with Numerus Clausus)
have not been allocated after the completion of the admission procedure, these study places will be allocated by means of a lottery system.

To participate in a possible lottery, you must fill out TU Berlin’s "Application form to participate in the lottery". Submit the application form by 1 October for the following winter semester or 1 April for the following summer semester directly to TU Berlin Team Bachelor by e-mail. You do not need to include any further documents or proof.

If you are admitted, you will receive a notification from TU Berlin with an access to your TUB account (tuPORT) to upload all documents for enrolment.

To enroll you require the „Application for recognition of previously obtained credits (Part A)" from the relevant TU Berlin examination board with placement in a higher degree semester. The degree semester placement must match the degree semester you applied for. If these do not match, you cannot enroll. Should you have conclusively failed an examination in the degree program you have been studying thus far at a university in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway, the examination board must additionally be satisfied that the failed examination does not represent an obstacle to you being accepted to the degree program for which you are applying.

Please note that you must also already fulfill the legal requirements for taking up specialized studies at the time of admission. This means that you must have a university entrance qualification certificate matching the program applied for and be able to provide proof of the required German skills.

Information for re-registrants at TU Berlin

If you were previously enrolled in the same degree program with the same study and examination regulations at TU Berlin, you are a re-registrant. The semester must fall within the standard period of study for your degree program AND be offered the semester you are applying (i.e. winter or summer semester).

You must also submit a certificate of good academic standing from the Examination Office, confirming you still have the right to take examinations in the requested degree program.

Please note that it is not possible to be placed back in the first degree semester.
