Since March 2023 Silja Hartmann is the Head of the Chair for Strategic Leadership and Sustainability Management at the Institute of Technology and Management at the Technische Universität Berlin. In her empirical research Silja Hartmann investigates questions concerning leadership and collaboration from a sustainability perspective with a behavioral theoretical foundation. One core area of her research is collaboration in work contexts characterized by change and adversity.
Silja Hartmann has published in leading international journals, such as the Journal of Organizational Behavior. She has received several national and international awards and nominations, such as the Best Paper Based on a Dissertation Award of the Organization Development and Change Division of the Academy of Management. Silja Hartmann is committed to science communication. One of her talks, for example, appeared on Deutschlandfunk Nova in the series Hörsaal and is available on Spotify.
Silja Hartmann received her PhD in 2019 from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich with a thesis on team resilience. After her PhD, she has been an Interim Professor for Strategic Management at the Technical University of Munich and worked as a PostDoc at the Ruhr-University Bochum and at the Freie Universität Berlin. Before pursuing her academic career, Silja Hartmann worked as an IT strategy consultant at Siemens AG and previously completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk - parallel to her bachelor's degree
