There is no denying the influence social actors have on environmental protection. This is true at both the local and global level. Professor Lena Partzsch researches and teaches how power relations and social change interact, and how political responsibility is increasingly shifting from the governmental level to consumers. She can be heard in the TEDx talk about alternatives to multilateralism – in other words, additional possibilities for regulating the cooperation between states in foreign policy and international relations. She examined three forms of governance – private regulation, supply chain laws and laws based on private regulation, i.e. a form of hybrid governance.
