On 10 June 2021, 5,483 files illegally obtained as part of a criminal cyberattack on TU Berlin were published on the darknet.
Campus Management has informed the University's data protection team as well as the emergency IT committee. The data protection team is currently examining the files to determine which personal data they contain. Anyone affected by the publication of the files will be individually contacted. An initial general overview indicates that these recently published files originate from the same source as those published on the darknet on 25 May 2021. The vast majority of these files do not contain personal details. However, some do include scans of job applications, for example. This first inspection did not identify any data from SAP, including any student information.
Please note that a detailed review of the data will require considerable time due to the number of files. Once it has thoroughly inspected the files and informed all affected persons, the data protection team will publish a summary on the University's website.
