LCA use for future regulations in the automotive industry

Project description

Assessing potential environmental impacts of products is an essential prerequisite and challenge for future developments when considering limited resource availability and increasing environmental pollution. For this reason, World Auto Steel - the automotive group of the worldwide steel association - is already using LCA as part of its product analysis and is considering using this method as a basis for future regulations for the automotive industry (after 2020). The challenge and the goal of this project is to identify and analyze suitable political instruments (including technical support tools), to develop a concept for connecting LCA and future regulations and to use case studies to test to what extent this can be implemented.
