The sustainable use of natural resources is laid down as a basic requirement in the Construction Products Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011, which came into force on July 1, 2013. The use of environmentally friendly raw materials and secondary building materials in buildings is therefore of particular importance.
Against this background, the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik (DIBt), the German approval body for construction products, is investigating how sustainability features can be taken into account in general construction approvals (allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung, abZ).
The aim of this joint project is to develop a general structure, such as sustainability features, especially ecological effects, to include in the approval process. Parquet flooring is studied as an example for the development of such a structure. The analysis of the ecological effects is carried out with the help of LCA studies according to ISO 14040/44.
