Sensor and Actuator Systems

Sensor and Actuator Systems

At the Chair of Sensor and Actuator Systems within the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at TU Berlin semiconductor and in particular CMOS-based sensors and actuators are developed. Within our research topics special emphasis is put on biomedical applications. In this context, e.g. arrays for biomolecule detection are developed as well as in-vivo and in-vitro platforms for interfacing purposes with nerve cells and neural tissue.

Europe-wide and on a national scale, we cooperate with academic and industrial partners from semiconductor technology and microelectronics, material sciences, bio physics and bio chemistry, biotechnology, medicine, and further disciplines within the framework of interdisciplinary projects.

Our activities are aiming at the design of sensors, manufacturing in collaboration with foundries and partners, assembly, design of interface circuitry, and application-oriented and user-friendly system integration. Test and transfer of the developed hardware to our partners are a mandatory part of our work as well.

Concerning education we contribute within the area of sensor and actuator systems and technology and related fields, we offer special in-depth courses as well as basic lectures.
