Dr. Jan Schilling

Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Jan Schilling, born in 1979, studied law at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, completed his first and second state law exams in Baden-Württemberg and received his doctorate from the Humboldt University in Berlin in 2012. During his studies, he gained his first professional experience as a research assistant at the European Parliament.


After working as a trainee lawyer at CMS Hasche Sigle, the German University of Administrative Sciences (DHV) and the German Energy Association (VDEW), he held various positions at the German Association of Local Utilities (VKU e.V.) from 2007 to 2016.


In 2015 and 2016, he was also Managing Director of VKU Consult GmbH. From 2017 to 2023, he was responsible for the public transport sector as Managing Director at the Association of German Transport Companies, VDV e.V. Since April 2019, he has also held a teaching position at the Technical University of Berlin.


Dr. Schilling has been Chief Marketing Officer at DB Regio AG since April 1, 2023.

Reorganization of public transport

This course provides an insight into the environment of public transport. Since the railway reform, many processes in public transport have been adapted to the new conditions. Against the background of market liberalization, the requirements for companies, vehicles and infrastructure will be illustrated by means of examples.
