Welcome to the Chair of Rail Vehicles at the Technische Universität Berlin.

We deal with all issues related to rail vehicles in passenger and freight transportation. The expectations for rail transport are immense, the time pressure for significant increases in rail performance due to the climate crisis is enormous. Rail transport must become more reliable, faster and more attractive if it is to form the backbone of climate-friendly transport.

To meet these expectations, innovative solutions in all areas of the rolling stock are essential. They require a deep understanding of the whole system and new approaches to exploit digital opportunities and address new challenges. Through excellent student education and innovative research, we are helping to shape the rail transport of the future.
