Student assistant in the field of Robotics

(This is not a PhD position)

We – the Robotics and Biology Lab – are looking for enthusiastic students that help us improving the capabilities of our robot platforms. We offer a flexible, collaborative work environment and the opportunity to learn and gain valuable experience in a wide range of robot-related topics. Reference Number: 3434T94/21 (only for students of Universities in Berlin; permanent vacancy: several posts, recruitment usually on 01.01., 01.04., 01.07. and 01.10.)

Working field:

  • Designing soft robotic hands
  • Conducting of robotics experiments
  • Developing and testing software (perception, planning, control)
  • Building and testing integrated circuits
  • Teaching support

Requirements:

  • Excellent programming skills (C++ and/or Python)
  • Knowledge of Linux applications
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken

Beneficial:

  • Basic robotics knowledge (such as kinematics, dynamics, planning, probabilistic methods, etc.)
  • Knowledge of computer vision (dealing with RGB and RGBD cameras)
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms

Embodied Intelligence PhD Position (IV-475/23)

Research assistant - salary grade E 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen - 1st qualification period (PhD candidate)

The Robotics and Biology Laboratory offers a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment, has excellent equipment and facilities, and maintains close ties with research labs around the world.

Reference number: IV-475/23 (closing date for applications 27.11.23/ starting at the earliest possible / limited for 5 years)

Working field:

  • Research at the intersection of Robotics and AI with an emphasis on examining how being embodied contributes to cognition, intelligence, and AI-behavior of real-world systems
  • The project details will be determined together with the successful candidate based on their specific abilities and interests
  • Participation in teaching computer science courses

Requirements:

  • Required is a successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in computer science or related field
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in robotics, AI, machine learning, computer vision, control or related fields
  • Strong interest in interdisziplinary research
  • Experience in programming robots in the real world
  • The ability to teach in German and/or in English is required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills
