Active Entrepreneurial Support

Technische Universität Berlin is one of the top universities in Germany in terms of entrepreneurship

Technische Universität has a long tradition of supporting entrepreneurship and the University’s scientific research has given rise to many spin-offs. Germany's first start-up center, the Berlin Innovation and Start-up Center (BIG) was opened in the Technology Park Humboldthain in 1983. The many university spin-offs are both an important aspect of technology transfer and a driver of Berlin’s economy. Technische Universität Berlin is one of Germany’s strongest research universities.

The Centre for Entrepreneurship

The Centre for Entrepreneurship represents the focal point of the University’s start-up activities. The Center pursues the long-term goals of conducting teaching and research in the area of entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship as well as creating the right practical conditions for entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial activity, taking account of economic, social and environmental issues in the process.

In addition to start-up advice, the Centre for Entrepreneurship also provides support with issues such as funding, the provision of rooms and labs as well as helping to secure seed funding. A transfer team helps researchers to initiate and realize innovation and transfer projects with businesses. The transfer team also serves as first point of contact for businesses and investors seeking collaborative partners. Support for transfer initiatives is provided in close consultation with the University’s other units working in the area of transfer.

The Centre for Entrepreneurship has an additional special feature: It offers its own Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship & Sustainability master’s program, which focuses on responsible entrepreneurship.
