Round Table on the Advancement of Junior Scholars

The objective of the round tables is to open a dialog between junior scholars and target groups involved in the advancement of junior scholars at TU Berlin for the discussion and development of ideas and measures in this area. The round tables are part of the Strategy for the Advancement of Junior Scholars at TU Berlin passed by the Academic Senate in July 2018.

Topic: Postdoc Academy

We would like to discuss with you the initial considerations for founding a postdoc academy in the Berlin University Alliance and learn more about the wishes and needs of postdocs at TU Berlin.

Summer semester 2022

On 1 April 2022, Prof. Dr. Sophia Becker was elected Vice President for Sustainability, Internal Communication, Transfer and Transdisciplinarity and also entrusted with the promotion of young scholars. Since direct exchange is very important to her, we have jointly decided to use two round tables to enter into an exchange with both groups, doctoral candidates and postdocs, and to talk about the current situation, goals and wishes.

Vice President Prof. Dr. Sophia Becker used this round table for a direct exchange with doctoral candidates at TU Berlin. Three topics were discussed in the world café format:

  • Supervision culture and doctorate conditions
  • Working conditions - teaching, research, administration
  • Further education and interdisciplinary networking opportunities
