Successfully completing a doctorate requires a great deal of motivation and stamina. At the same time, many doctoral students are very much on their own in the context of an individual doctorate, especially when it comes to aspects of the doctorate that cannot be discussed with the supervisor.
To fill this gap, we offer you the opportunity to network with other doctoral researchers through us and tackle your challenges with the peer coaching method.
In peer coaching, you meet 1-2 times per month in small groups of 4-6 people over a period of at least 5 months (or longer if desired) and discuss your concerns using a special technique. These meetings can take place online or offline. The other participants are doctoral students of the TU Berlin, regardless of their field of study.
Participants often ask themselves whether they can benefit from the meetings despite the different disciplinary backgrounds and different goals - yes, because the main thing is to open up your perspective, to see that you are not alone with your problems, to develop new strategies or to be motivated to tackle challenges through the support of the others.
It is suitable for people who want to talk openly about their experiences and at the same time pass on their knowledge to others.
Respectful, appreciative interaction with the other group participants is a prerequisite. We will be happy to familiarise you with the method at the first two meetings - you will conduct the further meetings independently as a group, although we will be at your disposal again if you have any questions or problems and will keep in touch with you. For the success of group sessions, it is important that all participants adhere to the jointly agreed guidelines.
Contact us via the email form with the details of which phase of your doctorate you are in and whether you would prefer to hold the meetings in German or English - we will then try to find suitable partners for the small groups in our database and network with you. Don't worry - we will not pass on your email address for this purpose.
