Founded in 1896, Tomsk Polytechnic University is the oldest technical university in Siberia. Together with two Moscow Universities, the TPU is one of the three best Universities in Russia. To date, there are more than 20 students who have completed the double degree program, so it's easy to get personal information about the program. The DAAD supports study visits as part of the double degree program with monthly scholarships.
On February 27, 2007, the first vice president of TUB, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg Steinbach, and the rector of the Polytechnic University of Tomsk (TPU), Prof. Yu.P. Pocholkov in Tomsk, Russia signed an agreement on a Double Degree Master Program between the TUB and the TPU.
Since March 2009, the Double Degree Master Program in Engineering Sciences has been accredited by ASIIN e.V., which means that it complies with the standards of European engineering programs.
The Double Degree Master Program in Engineering Science (DDMPES) is a double degree project of TU Berlin and Polytechnic University (TPU) in Tomsk, Russia. Interested students can spend half of their master studies in Russia and earn two master's degrees: Master of Science in "Engineering Science" at the TUB and the Master Degree in Engineering and Technology with a focus on "Physics of High Technology in Mechanical Engineering" at the TPU.
There is the possibility to attend courses in Russian language at the TPU. These are 3-week intensive courses in the summer months, next date: to be announced. So students can participate in the DDMPES, who do not (yet) speak Russian.
The DDMPES provides for a 2-year study. During this time, 120 credits have to be achieved after ECTS. Of these, 60 units must be provided at the TU Berlin and 60 at the TPU. The study is divided into the following units:
