Berlin University Alliance (BUA)

Within the framework of the Berlin University Alliance (BUA), students of the four partners - Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin- can take advantage of selected offers of all partners.

Joint degree programs (BUA Joint Degree Programs), module packages developed across disciplines and institutions (BUA Certificate Programs), specially selected BUA Modules, and the offerings within the framework of the Student Research Opportunities Programx (StuROPX) are designed to provide students with broader access to existing courses at all four institutions, participation in new courses, and active involvement in research projects within the framework of the Grand Challenge Initiatives.

Student Research Opportunities Programx

Once again the berlin university alliance will be offering the formats X-Student Research Groups and the X-Tutorials under the  Student Research Opportunities Programx (StuROPx).

Note on registration for StuROPx projects offered at TU Berlin: You are studying at Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin or Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, and have received confirmation of participation by the teachers or tutors? Please register until "tbd" as BUA Student at the TU Berlin.

For students of the Technische Universität Berlin, no further steps are required after receiving a place confirmation.

Students at Charité, FU Berlin or HU Berlin please send the electronically completed "Application for participation in BUA Modules", together with a certificate of enrollment for the semester applied for, to the TU Berlin BUA office: bua@pruefungen.tu-berlin.de

BUA Modules

Under the BUA Course Format BUA Modules the Berlin University Alliance (BUA) members offer a selection of their modules to BUA students every semester. As student of one of the alliance members, you can participate in the BUA modules of the other alliance members as auditing student. (Please note: Students of TU Berlin can also participate in BUA modules at TU Berlin. However, in this case, the registration is not handled by the BUA office.)

BUA Modules are assigned to the following topics:

  • Gender & Diversity
  • Society & Philosophy
  • Digitalization
  • Environment and climate protection
  • Global Health

Courses are also offered in a thematically open area.

BUA Certificate Programs

From summer semester 2024, the new BUA Certificate Program "Gender & Diversity in Science & Technology Studies" will start alongside the BUA Certificate Program Ethics, which has been running since summer semester 2023.

BUA Certificate Programs are interdisciplinary module packages with at least 15 and up to 30 credit points. As a student of a BUA partner, you have the opportunity to set individual focal points on global social challenges as part of your studies.  Further information on the content, structure and registration for both BUA Certificate Programs can be found under the following links:

 

BUA Joint Degree Programs

BUA Joint Degree Programs strive to address societal challenges of global importance. The courses on offer are interdisciplinary, research-based, and international in their scope.

BUA Module

BUA modules bring students from different departments and institutions together in one interdisciplinary learning environment. Students can take modules from five different intellectually stimulating subject areas.

StuROPx

StuROPX is the Berlin University Alliance’s main program designed to bridge the gap between teaching and research. It opens up opportunities for students to participate in research projects being carried out in Berlin right now.

BUA Office for Teaching and Learning

The BUA Office for Teaching and Learning consists of four field offices at the partner institutions of the Berlin University Alliance. The staff members provide information about teaching and learning offers within the framework of the Berlin University Alliance and are available to answer any questions.
