Nonlinear Optics

Study & Teaching

Lecture "Advanced Optics"

The lecture has as its content fundamentals and advanced current applications from wave optics and laser physics, light propagation and waveguiding, and deals with modern materials for optics and optoelectronics (photorefractive and organic materials, design materials with artificial dielectric functions, photonic crystals, metamaterials, semiconductors and their nanostructures).

Lecture "Experimental Physics VI"

The module imparts and deepens knowledge of optics and wave optics, the formation and propagation of light, the basics of laser physics and light-matter interaction, matrix optics, concepts for describing polarization, interference, coherence, optics of anisotropic media, etc. Basics are taught of holography, non-linear optics and examples for modern applications are given. The module is offered in the Physics bachelor’s degree each summer semester.
