Research at Faculty II - Mathematics and Natural Sciences

Research at Faculty II is characterized by basic mathematical and scientific research and application-oriented interdisciplinary research and by networking with numerous non-university research institutions at regional, national and international level. The main areas of research are mathematics and applications, catalysis, biologically oriented chemistry, new materials, nanostructures, light-matter interaction and systems of condensed matter (quantum physics), as well as the development of computer-aided methods and simulations. Faculty II has the only university research area in astronomy and astrophysics in Berlin.
