For her pioneering work in the field of X-ray technology, Prof. Dr. Birgit Kanngießer from the Institute of Optics and Atomic Physics at TU Berlin was awarded the EXSA- Outstanding Achievement Award on June 30, 2022. It is the first time that a woman has been honored with the award. The prize is awarded by the European X-ray Spectrometry Association (EXSA).
Prof. Dr. Birgit Kanngießer, who was appointed to the endowed professorship "Analytical X-ray Physics" at the TU Berlin in 2009, is engaged in application-oriented research in the field of analytical X-ray physics. Novel X-ray methods are also being developed for this purpose. Among other things, the endowed professorship made possible the establishment of the Berlin Laboratory for Innovative X-ray Technologies "BLiX" as a cooperation project between the TU Berlin and the Max Born Institute (Leibniz Institute) for application-oriented research in the field of X-ray technologies.
