Studies & teaching at the department of medical biotechnology
Welcome to the Department of Medical Biotechnology
Biotechnology at the TU Berlin The biotechnology course at the Technical University of Berlin has an engineering focus and is divided into two sections:
the six-semester bachelor's and the four-semester master's course.
The course is made up of modules consisting of thematically related courses (seminars, lectures, exercises) and the scope of which is specified in credit points (LP) according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The course is supplemented by several weeks of professional or industrial internships. Further information can be found in the current examination regulations for the course. Medical biotechnology Medical biotechnology (red biotechnology) is the sum of all biotechnological processes that are used in the field of medicine. The professional field is located at the interface between engineering, natural sciences and medicine. The importance of this discipline for the future is reflected in the fact that a large proportion of the companies traded in the "biotechnology" sector are pursuing a clearly medically oriented strategy.
We make every effort to keep our teaching at the LSF of the TU Berlin as up-to-date as possible. Therefore you will receive all relevant information about our courses of the current semester about Moses. As a participant in a course, you will receive lecture material and further information in the respective ISIS-courses. The pages of the student advisory service are also very helpful. There you can see the study and examination regulations as well as the module descriptions. One focus of teaching is in the areas of medical diagnostics and regenerative medicine. This is due to the fact that the greatest progress is currently being made here and medicine will undergo fundamental changes in these areas. In order to ensure appropriate and practical teaching here, close integration with courses offered by the Charité or non-university institutions such as the German Rheumatism Research Center Berlin (DRFZ), the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the Fraunhofer IZI or the Max Planck Institutes is essential.
