The Chair of Macroeconomics offers bachelor and master theses' in different research areas. You can suggest your own topics if they fit to the research focus of the chair.

|Experimental Economics||e.g. social preferences, strategic uncertainty, survey methods, rational inattention, coordination|
|Behavioral Economics||e.g. nudges and their applications, loss aversion, choice overload, cognitive load, learning|
|Behavioral Finance||e.g. overconfidence in markets, disposition effect, cognitive ability in markets, extrapolative expectations|
|Industrial Organization||e.g. market power, concentration, price transmission|
|Economics of Climate Change||e.g. Climate Clubs, CO2-emission certificates|
Students who would like to write a thesis at the Chair of Macroeconomics should have completed the basic course "Macroeconomics" (AVWL II) and at least one further course at the Chair or an equivalent course at another university. Ideally you have also completed one of our bachelor's or master seminars. Theses can be written in German or English, however, the ability to read scientific papers in English is indispensable.
Students who want to apply should hand-in a proposal in which the following questions are addressed:

1. What are the key research questions?
2. Why are these interesting questions and non-trivial to answer (motivation)?
3. What scientific literature (e.g. peer-reviewed journal articles), methods and/or model(s) will be used?
