The Best of Logistics: Innovations, Strategies, Implementations

Today, logistics is an economic and competitive factor for companies in industry, trade, transport and services and holds a top position in Germany in a global comparison. Excellent logistics has developed into a differentiating feature of value creation processes and has a direct impact on the results of economic activity.

Innovations that show progress and change, strategies that point the way to logistics-oriented corporate management and implementations in companies that increase service, customer orientation and corporate value are presented from the perspective of practice and science. Their range reflects the scope and breadth of logistics. Best logistics solutions are described by logistics specialists and top managers of leading, international companies as well as by logistics scientists.

Logistics as a driver of global networking is the way of the future. Internationalisation, but also the development of advanced infrastructures and transport logistics concepts are pointing the way for the economy. Logistics science is a strong, supporting engine. Logistics is now being taught and researched at almost 130 universities in Germany.

The German Logistics Association (BVL) supports this work as a platform for people in business and science. The editor, Helmut Baumgarten, is an expert in logistics science and a representative of holistic, process-oriented logistics with a large network in practice. As one of the founders of BVL, he takes stock with this work after three decades of logistics development and points the way to the future with new challenges and goal-oriented approaches to solutions.

The book is suitable for decision-makers in companies, politics and science, students as well as interested parties who want to learn the latest in logistics from science and practice.
