Prof. Dr. Sebastian Jürgens studied law and philosophy at the University of Hamburg and the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. After his research fellowship in Sri Lanka, Prof. Jürgens completed his doctorate in philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilian University in 1993. After his second state law examination, he worked first in Munich and then in Singapore in a law firm before joining McKinsey & Company in 1996. From 2002 to 2008, Prof. Jürgens worked for Deutsche Bahn AG, initially as Head of Strategy Development and Organisation, and in 2005 he took over responsibility for the Intermodal business segment. From 2009 to 2011 he was responsible for the Intermodal and Logistics segments as a member of HHLA's Executive Board. Prof. Jürgens has been Managing Director at LHG since January 1st 2014 and is responsible for the Sales and Operations divisions.
