Laser Physics, Transient Electronic Structure und Nanoscience

Our research extends from fundamental questions of light-matter interaction to ultrafast processes and transient electronic and magnetic structure in condensed matter. This includes the controlled optical manipulation of nanoscale magnetic structures on short time scales. Connecting spectroscopic information with scattering and imaging over a wide spectral range from infrared to X-ray is a methodological cross-sectional approach in our work. For our own research as well as for applications in laser laboratories and large-scale research facilities, we develop novel powerful laser systems and secondary sources for ultrashort X-ray pulses.

The group is located at the Max Born Institute in Berlin-Adlershof, all laboratories and offices are there.
