Speech Communication

Research Projects

Emotional Speech (Emo-Database)

The purpose of this study is to compare phonetic realizations in which different emotional speaker states are simulated and compared with each other as well as the respective neutral versions with respect to phonetic reduction and elaboration phenomena. Temporal structures are to be given particular consideration in the analysis.

Formant Maps

This project aims to develop formant maps for the German vocal system using recordings made by the academic chair.

Speech Movements at Different Speaking Speeds

The purpose of this study is to compare phonetic realizations in which different emotional speaker states are simulated and compared with each other as well as the respective neutral versions with respect to phonetic reduction and elaboration phenomena.

Talking Head Models

This project aims to produce a generic model which can be used to equally describe speech and speaker-specific traits of a talking head.

Young and Old Voices

This project compares young and old voices to determine which individual parameters are responsible for perceived age in vocal sounds.

Input Control in Early Language Acquisition

Largely neglected in research thus far, the primary goal of the project is acoustic analysis for the detailed detection of the particular features of early infant vocalizations in the first 24 months of life.
