  • Project: Standardized integral instrumentation of gas foil bearings for condition and operation monitoring
  • Funding: DFG - German Research Foundation / SPP 2305
  • Project duration:  01.04.2022 - 31.03.2025
  • Project description: A gas foil bearing is being developed as a sensor-integrated machine element which provides important measured variables for monitoring the condition of the bearing itself as well as data for the operational monitoring of the stored rotor system. The measured variables are to be determined both directly using standard sensors during operation and by exploiting physical effects by means of virtual sensors. During the development steps, we will examine whether the sensor integration previously investigated can in principle also be used for other bearing types (rolling or plain bearings). In this respect, a scientific exchange with the other projects involved in SPP 2305 is also planned.
