Climatology

South America

South America is a central focus of research in the field of climatology. In particular, the high mountain regions of the Andes with their complex topography and resulting climatic conditions form a spatial focus. Due to the problems of lack of infrastructure and difficult accessibility, which apply to many high mountain areas of the world, the application of remote sensing methods and numerical modeling to study the interaction of climatic boundary conditions on land cover are the focus of our research activities (e.g. high Andean wetlands).
