Summer and winter schools are an ideal option if you would like to study abroad for a shorter period of time and gain insights into life at another university. In addition to learning more about a specific issue or subject, you will also benefit from being immersed in a new culture and language and meeting students from around the world.

A wide range of summer and winter schools are offered in Europe and overseas. You can participate in workshops on a variety of topics, attend courses about the local culture, or improve your language skills. You choose your own focus. We regularly share about summer and winter schools on our social media. However, you are also welcome to do your own research.

It is sometimes possible to receive credit for participating in a summer or winter school. Please speak with your examination board in advance.

Students participating in a summer or winter school or language or short courses at one of our partner universities can apply for a PROMOS scholarship of up to 550 euros.

The DAAD’s Go East Program may also be of interest. It provides funding for selected summer and winter schools in Central, Southeastern, and Eastern Europe as well as the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
