The Preparatory School at TU Berlin offers courses and exams to prepare you for the assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung) and to study at a university in Germany.
You would like to study in Germany, but your secondary school certificate is not recognized here?
The Preparatory School at TU Berlin prepares international applicants who do not directly qualify for university entrance in Germany to study in a degree program here. The program concludes with an assessment test, which examines your suitability to study in a degree program at a university in the Federal Republic of Germany. Preparation for the assessment test generally takes two semesters; however, external candidates can also take the test without attending classes. It is also possible to take a supplementary test following the assessment test to increase the range of subjects you qualify to study, provided certain conditions are met.
You qualify directly to study at a university in Germany, but you do not meet the language requirements?
The Propädeutikum or precourse offers German language classes as well as courses taught in German for mathematics, physics, and economics to prepare students specifically for a degree in a natural science, engineering science, or economics. The Propädeutikum lasts one semester and concludes with a test to assess your level of German (equivalent to DSH 2). This is recognized as proof of language proficiency for a degree in Germany.
You don't have an Abitur, but you have completed a professional training and would like to start a degree in an area different to your training?
If the subject you wish to study differs to the focus of your professional training (at least two years and officially recognized), you are required to complete an entry examination at the Preparatory School before you can be considered for admission to the degree program.
