Objectives

The goal of YEBO! was to develop the internationalization of doctoral studies in South Africa by focusing on the following aspects:

  • Improving access to information about internationalization through the creation of a PhD portal aimed at students, doctoral candidates, supervisors, and academic and administrative staff and focusing on funding options, doctoral programs in other countries, options for international mobility, administrative processes, training material for supervisors etc.
  • Increasing the number of students as well as academic and non-academic staff trained in the internationalization of doctoral studies and improving the quality of continuing education in this area by providing four training sessions at South African universities
  • Advancing the internationalization of PhD studies in South Africa and the EU through four conferences dedicated to this subject (two in the EU and two in South Africa) with students and academic and non-academic staff from both regions
  • Developing the capacity of South African (and European) universities to evaluate their strategies for the internationalization of doctoral studies

Partner organizations

The YEBO! consortium consisted of universities, research institutions, and higher education associations from South Africa and the European Union. YEBO! was coordinated by the Université de Montpellier.

Project period

The project ran from October 2017 until October 2021.

YEBO! was funded as part of Erasmus + Key Action 2 Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education.
