Chorafas Prize
The Dimitris N. Chorafas Foundation awards annual international prizes to doctoral students/doctoral graduates with above-average research work that is expected to be completed or has been completed in the current calendar year.
The aim is to support young outstanding scientists* who are to be provided with seed money for postgraduate research.
Since 1996, the TU Berlin has been one of the 21 partner universities of the Dimitris N. Chorafas Foundation worldwide. The TUB is able to award two prizes, provided that suitable candidates are proposed.

Call for candidates for the Chorafas Prize 2024 - US $ 10,000

Areas of research

The awards recognise outstanding work in the following priority areas:
- Life Sciences & Medicine
- Physics
- Chemistry (including nanotechnology)
- Mathematics
- Informatics/Computer Science
- Engineering of Finance & Risk Management

Requirements

- Candidates must not be older than 32 years (born after 31 May 1992).
- Candidates may only be nominated once.
- The doctorate should (probably) be completed in the period from 31 May 2023 to 31 December 2024.
- The doctoral candidate must be a student at TU Berlin and may also be a research assistant at the faculty.
- The research work must be practice-oriented and the doctoral candidate must be one of the best in his/her year.

1. Cover Page with the following information: Full Name (LAST, first); Gender; Title (e.g. Dr.); Date of Birth [DD/MM/YYYY]; Title of the Thesis; Graduation date, or expected graduation date (MM/YYYY); Field of research; Passport size photo; Candidate's home address; Candidate's personal email address

2. Complete CV, including internships if any

3. List of Publications (Oonly papers for which the candidate is the first author. All papers must be either published, in-press or accepted (in peer-review journals)

4. Summary of research (up to one page only)

5. Personal note: “Why my research benefits humanity” (up to one page)

6. Letter of recommendation 1 (from the Ph.D. advisor/s. The salutation should be: Dear Members of the Board, ... )

7. Letter of recommendation 2 (The salutation should be: Dear Members of the Board, ...)

8. Selected abstracts of peer-reviewed published papers (up to 5 abstracts; no longer than ½ page each)

9. List of the statistically valid sample of candidates (Presenting 20-25 candidates that were considered, but not retained. The list should contain first and last name; faculty, or the field of studies; and thesis title)
