Doctors

In Germany, it is quite common to first see a general practitioner called a "Praktischer Arzt" or "Allgemeinmediziner." If needed, they will then give a referral to see a specialist.

This database will help you find doctors by profession ("Fachrichtung"), area ("Stadtbezirk"), zipcode ("Postleitzahl") or language ("Sprache").

Emergency Medical Service

In you are ill and need to see a doctor at night, on the weekend or on a public holiday, you can find the phone numbers for emergency medical services here.

After-hours pharmacy

If you urgently require medicine outside pharmacy opening hours, you can make use of the after-hours pharmacy service. In every district you will find an after-hours pharmacy (called "Nachtapotheke"). To find the next after-hours pharmacy service, check the display window of the local pharmacy. There you will find a sign with the address of the after-hours pharmacy on duty.
