Transnational Education and International Knowledge Transfer

Our work

The Department for Transnational Education and International Knowledge Transfer (INT TNB) advises and supports refugees who have been forced to interrupt their studies, research project or doctorate due to political persecution or war in their home country. The support includes a wide range of assistance and funding programmes. We also coordinate the TU's own educational programmes abroad (like TDU) and the promotion of international specialist qualifications.

We support the development and networking with university and non-university partners, expecially from the MENA region and the Global South. We offer our expertise to TU Berlin staff and departments in the axquisition of third-party funding and in the establishment of new projects.

The INT TNB Department specializes on the following main themes:

  • Scholars@Risk with a focus on continuing education as an integration perspective for academics from and in conflict regions.
  • Transnational Education (study programmes abroad, follow-up concept ZI El Gouna) with the aim of contributing to the diversity and quality of tertiary education.
  • International qualification of skilled workers (continuining education worldwide) in the context of international qualification of skilled workers.
  • International knowledge transfer with the aim of capacity building for and with non-university partners.

The university pursues the goal of combining the best practices of German and Turkish universities and thus facilitating forward-looking research and teaching.
In this context, the TU Berlin assumes the role of the lead partner university in the field of engineering sciences.
