The ILS is home to academic chairs dealing with the planning, design, construction and operation of transport infrastructure as well as means of transport including drive systems on land and at sea. The institute's competence and focus lie in motor vehicles and road transport, railroads and rail transport, naval and marine technology, and internal combustion engines.
