Learning Outcomes:
The module conveys the basic content and tasks of business informatics to the students. The students gain insights into methods and models of business informatics and learn to apply them to practical examples. You will be able to assess the areas of application and challenges of business informatics in the company and to analyze and solve problems in this area independently. Furthermore, current developments in the field of business informatics are taught. In this module, the necessary basic knowledge for the advanced events in the subject is imparted.
Course Content:
The importance of information and communication systems for corporate success is increasing continuously. Many business processes today can no longer be carried out without IT systems or are already completely processed by them. Business informatics deals with the recognition and implementation of the potential of ICT technologies in business solutions. The aim is to make the best possible use of information as a resource with regard to the corporate objective. The focus is on the planning, implementation, management and control of IT systems as well as the management of the interface between IT technology and business in the company.
The course is divided into three parts and consists of an online lecture, a face-to-face meeting and tutorials in small groups.
The online lecture deals with the basic content of business informatics and presents important areas of responsibility and modules. Central topics are the structure of the ICT infrastructure, internal and external information processing, the challenges in the design of information systems, information management and innovation through ICT technologies. The face-to-face event serves to illustrate the content of the online lecture using current practical examples and to discuss it with the students. In the exercises, topics from the lecture are taken up and deepened through application in practice-oriented case studies. In addition, the students work on homework in order to consolidate the theoretical knowledge they have imparted.
Teaching forms:
The module contents are conveyed through lectures and tutorials. The tutorials focus on homework, in which students should learn to use selected methods of Information Systems Management.
