In the first part of this module, students gain an in-depth understanding of the following topics: geometry processing, methodological design, requirements management, computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided engineering (CAE), and knowledge-based engineering (KBE). Students are also introduced to systems for product data management and virtual reality (VR). Tutorials take place in small groups and provide students with an overview of the technical possibilities of current development tools. Using Siemens PLM Suite, students learn how to model components, design assemblies, create free-form geometries, design sheet metal parts, use knowledge-based modeling as well as create & manage a product structure in the PDM system.
